I think that the site notice for noobs of the moment is a great idea, it shows an interest in new users and showcases who exceptional users are and encourages us to check their work out.

The feature article notice is back, AGAIN. I sincerely believe this notice makes the site look broken. It's been up there for 1 year and we are still begging users to vote on articles and the average votes is STILL under 10. It makes it seem like we haven't acheived anything after 12 months, which isn't true and its not the kind of way the site to appear to visitors. You don't see any sucessful site advertising that things are desparate. If it must be there, could we please change it to a simple VOTE ON featured article and get rid of the (in my humble opinion) messy and unessasary text that makes this site look like the sinking ship that some users claim it is? Or you can put vote on feature article on the side bar? Or put this notice up one or two days a month? Anything? Please??? --ShabiDOO 10:43, December 12, 2012 (UTC)

I prefer to keep the banner there. Actually a lot of sites do ask for donations...we're just asking for votes. This month there has been a surge of excellent articles and voting so I don't see the situation so gloomy. Last couple of days I have changed the featured article every day to cut back on the queue. If it slacks off again, then I will look at the quasi-featured which in previous years failed with 9 or 10 votes. Regards the formatting issues on the website..I am no web techie so I can't answer that question. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 11:00, December 12, 2012 (UTC)
It slacked off from a daily feature? That must not occur again, I swear on the soul of my dead mother (Mom, stop reading over my shoulder and go get me some lunch). And yeah, asking for votes is fine but the banner really shouldn't say the votes "need" voting or list a number, just a "Vote for a feature" banner would be good. I hate the entry barrier of course, should go unsaid. Does anyone know if we can redesign or reword it? A friend of mine suggested the entry click should be on the forehead of a pic of Oscar Wilde. A sucessful site would never ask for donations and then show a progress bar that never moves. As Ali said, encouraging people to vote is one thing, begging is another. --ShabiDOO 18:24, December 12, 2012 (UTC)
Race not against other sites. Race against yourself! --Lord Scofield Stark 09:12, December 18, 2012 (UTC)
  • I think the site looks best with no sitenotice. -- Brigadier General Sir Zombiebaron 17:16, December 19, 2012 (UTC)
    • Zombie...theres a new forum which focuses on there being no or VERY few site notices. Your opinion would be very appreciated there...by the opressed masses huddling under stairwells. --ShabiDOO 19:22, December 19, 2012 (UTC)
