I have naïvely volunteered to update the "Did you know" section on the front page. The usual housekeeping will be done: duplicates eliminated, spellcheck /grammarNazi stuff performed. New suggested entries will finally be brought into the fold with the new ones curated, meaning no crap.

But, how do you all feel about editing what's there already? I propose to at least delete Captain Obvious posts as terribly unfunny (Did you know that the sun rises in the east?) after seeing them over and over for the 10 months I've been here. Secondly, would you consider an even more radical replacement of posts, perhaps up to 80% of what's there now? That can be a trial if need be where the removed items get archived. If you ever visit the fork, the "Did you know" pretty much match the ones here; and I'd like to see something different from them as well. Other thoughts are welcome. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 15:35, May 12, 2018 (UTC)

I agree as regards the changes. Let's start with Captain Obvious and perhaps also the tired Russian Reversal stuff as well at some date. Otherwise this website will be oh so early 2000s. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 15:37, May 12, 2018 (UTC)
I have thought the DIY section needed updating for some time now, only hadn't got around to doing it yet. I'd say actually get rid of the Russian reversal stuff first, and reduce the number of Captain Obvious - one obvious fact sprinkled in may throw the reader off a little. But definitely replace old stuff with new stuff. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 20:11, May 19, 2018 (UTC)
New entries have now been added to both picture and text versions, though I don't see any new text ones show up. Will ask around before I go bashing around; the text list but not the template for it may be corrupted. No old ones have been deleted yet for either. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 05:38, May 20, 2018 (UTC)

Report from the front, Somewhere in Belgium, 1916
Seems to be some hating on the old RR, and the boys here in the trenches are with you on that. There was surprising little in DYK. RR is all embedded in the articles as quotes, I'm afraid.

Things in sector DYKimages running well. As with any supposed rando picking method, there were old ones that rarely popped up and I thought them worth carrying over. Only about a dozen casualties at this point with 35 replacements added. Among them were 4 promotions from the lower ranks, i.e. text DYK. As more replacements come in, a few more will be retired. We still could use a lot more so feel free to add. A tip of the helmet to Gen. Romartus for sending more cannon fodder men to the frontlines.

is shrouded in fog.Progress in sector DYK text! This lieutenant realized that the frontline troops were facing in the wrong direction. Ho. 80 new recruits are now in the frontlines replacing a like number of casualties. However, only one replacement has ever shown up and an ever-changing cast of dead soldiers continue to litter the front page. The only guess I have is that the subtemplates(?) given on the front page shown in the edit are some ridiculously deep caches. They are apparently not things I can access/view to clear out. I contacted Col. Pup but no answer; Jerry must have cut the wires again. Some cleanup still to do. Your additions are solicited for this area as well.

Chins up. We'll all be home by Christmas,

Watch out for the mustard gas drifting across the battlefield. We have found cans marked FANDOOM". --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 07:56, May 24, 2018 (UTC)
