Made a {{welcomeip}} template to welcome IP user, since it seemed real nice to encourage decent editors to create accounts. I'm advised this is probably a bad idea cos it potentially creates lots of unread pages. Would this be an okay practice presuming anon users who demonstrate several good edits over a period of more than a couple days? Or should I just drop this entirely? / A hog staring at a wristwatch 11:24, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Like I said on your talk page, I don't think it's a good idea. But let's hear the community /me waiting for the community to rush in ~Jewriken.GIF 11:26, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

/me rushes in. Anyways, it's generally considered a no-no around here to welcome IP's (people have actually been banned for it), and I don't think we actually get enough useful, non-dynamic IP's to change that. –—Hv (talk) 25/07 11:47
All that really needs to be done if there's an IP user who's been creating funny pages is to leave a message in their talk page saying "you've made some funny stuff. You should get an account." It saves space, and saves the trouble of making a template, so it therefore creates SAVINGS! --THE 12:38, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
/me rushes in. There's a white Tercel in the parking lot with its lights on! Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 13:37, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

It is funny. Made feel all warm and tingly. Oh, no, that's just the dog pissing on my new pants. Pieface 14:22, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
You know what? It really is. Maybe just limit to IPs we're sure about their contributions. ~Jewriken.GIF 14:25, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Nice idea, Mordillo. It may well encourage them to sign up, as A_hog_staring_at_a_wristwatch says. Oh, and ha ha ha, Pieface! :) RabbiTechno 14:39, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

It would seem that Famine ended the discussion for us. ~Jewriken.GIF 16:52, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
