SINGAPORE, Singapore –- The Royal United Singing Republic of Pores (aka Singapore) has refused to grant a visa to Gookshi, the 14th Maternal Nephew of the Dalai Lama, to avoid irritating China, according to Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Gookshi, the Dalai Lama’s sister's 14th son, aged 2 years, was due to participate in the three days Inter-racial Children’s Festival and play with new and interesting toys and recent kids books in Singapore, capital of Singapore on March 15th.
But the Singapore Foreign Ministry worried his political presence and toy playing – especially his playing with any toy weapons - could be linked to Tibet issue of China.
A spokesman for the Singapore Foreign Ministry said: "Singapore will support the Children’s Culture Exhibition, but the visa request of Gookshi, the Dalai Lama’s 14th Maternal Nephew had been denied. We have a long-standing policy of not letting any person use Singapore as a base to criticize or undertake political activities to hurt other countries."
After the Dalai Lama's planned armed rebellion failed in March 1959, he and his sister fled to India and set up a so-called Tibetan government-in-exile, in which he is the personified Void-in-Chief.
