I see you are shepherding this one, good; I would have given newbie his second {{ICU}} in two days, with fix=Strident and ranty. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif23:58 4-Sep-19

Ok, that was the intention. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 13:00, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia sez unifying the Muslims against the Crusaders was originally Nur's idea, going as far as marrying into a family, yikes! There is a possibility for irony here. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif11:55 15-Sep-19

Yes, I did read that. Saladin married Nur-a-din's widow as well. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 20:43, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

And another thing: The thesis of section When Dicky didn't meet Sali is that the two never met, betrayed by the photo and caption. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif17:14 19-Sep-19

Being a jerk[edit]

Simsie has been editing a page that you have re-moved to Don't be a jerk. It seems as though this is an update of the page formerly (and still) at Uncyclopedia:Don't be a dick. The new one should be in the Uncyclopedia: namespace, and if she has a problem with calling people a dick then the original page should go away (with redirect, because there are links to it everywhere). It is not a page in the Encyclopedia but a policy-page or project-page. AmIRite? Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif23:52 23-Sep-19

The article was originally titled M:Don't be a Jerk. I just removed the 'm'. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 13:51, 25 September 2019 (UTC)

Getting the word out about Uncyclopedia[edit]

Hi Romartus, I'm back after a long hiatus, it's been a while.

I've been wondering, Uncyclopedia seems to be somewhat obscure, especially after getting the Wikia site closed down and moving to the .ca domain. Which I think is a shame because there's some real funny material here that I think more people should know about. Have you ever thought about promoting the site more? Like maybe you could get a Youtube celebrity to mention the site in one of their videos? Or do you think the site is better laying low?--HolUp (talk) 21:32, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi HolUp. Welcome back. I agree that losing the Wikia address and site was a bit of a downer as regards publicising this site. In exchange, we have got back to the parody of wikipedia look which was lost when Wikia-Fandom changed the 'look' of the original site. At the moment, things are a bit quiet here. The current Trumpian lunacy makes writing UnNews a bit surreal right now. Regards publicising this site, we still have a facebook page which I update now and again. Nothing on YouTube and a recommendation from a YouTuber personality would make a difference. I just don't know how we would get their attention right now. Anyways, glad to see you're still around. Just one thing though. Please don't go and improve Featured Articles? Plenty of other articles require writing here and updating. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 13:59, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
In practice, you don't "get a [web] celebrity to mention the site". You pay them to. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif14:18 7-Oct-19

UnNews:Whistleblowers threatened by The Don[edit]

Thanks for this. I've fleshed it out based on current events. But your Source URL goes to the website and not to the specific article. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif22:25 7-Oct-19

PS--At this hour, I don't see "whistleblower" on Huffpost at all. I found a source on the BBC, though it mostly aligns with my new spin on the emergence of the "second whistleblower." If you can provide your source, add it in.

It seems griping about how the "Trumpian lunacy" doesn't inspire you to write, ultimately inspired you. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif01:05 8-Oct-19

Trumpian Lunacy (no quotes) is real in my view. Whether it is manufactured or real, the results look the same. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 09:04, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

I see it differently: Impeachment inquiry without a Bill of Impeachment, which would have to state High Crimes and Misdemeanors and would carry political costs for listing charges that are disproven; anonymous accuser (a Trump subordinate) openly coordinating with chairman of investigating committee; apparent charges are things the opposition does all the time; overt motive to distract from Biden shaking down Ukraine to line son's pockets. Political motives are to distract Trump and run out his clock, also to dominate the network news agenda each evening.

Nevertheless, I can't even turn this into an UnNews (because I've already written several along the same lines!) and am camping out looking for other people's projects to copy-edit. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif14:31 9-Oct-19

I didn't believe G.W. Bush should be impeached, despite all the mess and apparent incompetency in several areas (not that I could've done any better: after all, it is likely the most difficult job in the world) because we do not impeach presidents for mere incompetence. However, I do believe this latest thing with the Ukraine does reach the level of High Crimes and Misdemeanors that the Constitution requires for impeachment. In the aftermath of the Clinton impeachment, Republicans made it so Congressional committees could issue subpoenas without requiring a full vote of the entire House. Now, of course, that the shoe is on the other foot, they regret it. Right now, it is just an impeachment inquiry: an inquiry to determine if enough evidence exists to issue a bill of Impeachment. Impeachment is no cause for celebration; it is cause for mourning. Nobody wanted to have to do this. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 00:07, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

No, no one wanted this. But as Rep. Al Green put it: "I'm concerned that if we don't impeach this president, he will get re-elected." Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif01:50 10-Oct-19

On the contrary: impeachment proceedings if unwarranted are more likely to cement Trump's base, making him MORE likely to get re-elected (as happened with Clinton). This is why Pelosi waited so long to start the inquiry: she knew some members of the DNC were eager to jump the gun for political reasons. But no president is above the law. No president must be above the law, or else we have a Dictator in Chief, another Hitler or Mussolini to override Parliament (or in our case Congress) to get his way. If the President breaks the law, there must be consequences. Holding back funds that had been earmarked by Congress and approved by Congress for a specific purpose, and making them conditional on a bribe, is a crime. Requiring a bribe to release government money, is a crime. The only way to convict someone in the office of the Presidency who has committed a crime, is to impeach him. If there is enough evidence for a Bill of Impeachment, then after the Bill of Impeachment is passed, the evidence will be presented before the Senate to make the determination for indictment. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 02:51, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
The Bidens shouldn't have traded on their contacts for lucrative postings but so far no evidence this was actually done illegally. Accusing your political enemies of corruption is a Putin move. Not the same game. McCarthy was a conspiracy con artist; that does not make everyone one, even though MSNBC is teaching to ridicule as "conspiracy theorists" anyone who holds that the 3-year drive to eliminate Trump might be a conspiracy. At any rate, AOC calls herself a socialist and has just endorsed Sanders and vowed to bring "worker's revolution" to the ballot box, so no McCarthyism here. AOC's election was Constitutional (and attaining 30, she now has all the qualifications she needs for the Senate, God help us), but exactly none of the Green New Deal fits under the Enumerated Powers in I § 8, not even under the General Welfare clause, which didn't even mean "welfare." There is nowhere to take this except n-wrongs-make-a-right.

Although everyone from Zucker from Maxine wants people to confront adversaries on every forum, this is a humor wiki, Romartus looks ready to write an article on AOC, and we ought to be helping him envisage a comedy theme. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif23:27 20-Oct-19

If I was writing a humor article on her, the angle I would take is on the overreaction to her (gasp) dancing somewhere and actually being recorded doing it. From the way some people reacted to the video of her dancing, you would have thought dancing was illegal. (Fact: Some religious types find dancing against their religion. Maybe that's where that came from.) Because modern teens "never" tape themselves on their cell phones dancing. You should be able to change the username through Special:Renameuser/Rogpyvbc without me doing anything. African Grey[edit]

So what is the reason for the second wikipedia link? I'm also seeing construction tags being added to User:Methanol's articles where there was already one existing. Something has changed and It would be useful to know why this is being done.

I also am registering my dislike for putting an external link so far up the page that readers will click it early on and probably never return. Many articles haven't said anything funny in the first paragraph, and really don't always need to do so, so the wikipedia link is an easy exit. If the writing's indeed that bad, VFD or quickVFD is the solution. Also, using the wikilink as a substitute for a lead image gives us the same result. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 04:38, 20 December 2019 (UTC)

19th century[edit]

Two suggestions to distinguish the parts. I leave it to you to do whatever you like, even if not like these:

1. Make 19th century a disambiguation page and list the two halves there. If it breaks into further parts, they can be listed on the page, but parts should always be in the timeline template, methinks.

2. Title parts as e.g. 19th century: 1801-1850. The timeline template should just have the dates, methinks again.

I don't know if at this point you've decided to break things down even further, even though we've run out of Roman emperors by that century. You could always leave that for your children's children's children to decide. I was going to jump in on the 1930s section, but that's pretty large area to cover as it stands. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 00:29, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

Hi Nigel. I was veering to the first option rather than the second. I wanted to finish it first. The 20th century is broken up into decades per article. Perhaps a two way split would be easier. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 11:05, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

UnNews:Joe Biden pledges to nominate a female VP[edit]

Jimlemon has submitted another script to UnNews, and I have passed on featuring, as it would take tons of markup to make it look like an Uncyclopedia article, still more work to make it look like UnNews, and if you did then what you would get is one man's jaunty opinion (though I agree Joe Biden should be looking at more than whether his VP has a maybe the smell of her hair...).

In other news, we have had a pleasant bunch of collabs this week, the result, I guess, of various national shelter-in-place orders by which Donald Trump inexplicably gives up every single accomplishment in three years over a twist on the common cold. No, I guess the judges are still in place. Anyway, lots of people including a couple long-lost Uncyclopedians with time on their hands to crack wise! Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif23:44 18-Mar-20

Hail, Romartus. Back in 2016, some philistine destroyed my painstakingly crafted article about Radiohead, including its original art, and replaced it with something that forgot to be funny. I would revert it, but it appears the history of this article has been forgotten. Is there any chance that it could be resurrected? YouFang01 (talk) 19:53, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

I seem to be the said Philistine. The article was voted for deletion and I deleted it on 6-Mar-16. Some Philistine re-created it with a work-in-progress tag, then wandered away, and I deleted that life on 1-May-16. It is now on its third lifetime. I disagree that the current page "forgot to be funny." At most it is not your funny. HolUp, WeatherUnderground, and I have done most of the editing, starting late in 2016, so the resurrection should not simply be in place of the current article. (The Huff Log shows these two deletions, but not the history of the prior articles; why?) Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif20:18 27-Mar-20
Hello again, Spike. I mean no offense, and if any was caused, please forgive me. I was mad that my work got erased. I spent a lot of time making that article look like the liner notes to Paranoid Android. It looked terrible, and I spent a lot of time protecting it from well-meaning people who thought it was ugly and tried to "fix" it. Then to have it VFD'd while my back was turned!
That being said, I recognize that nothing is permanent here. If it's gone, so be it. If it survives somewhere, maybe it could exist as a different page? YouFang01 (talk) 21:26, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
I've asked and gotten an answer at User talk:Llwy-ar-lawr. I'll try again to locate it. Having multiple articles about the same thing is enthusiastically encouraged, and you are welcome to insert a link in the new page to guide readers to your old/new page. If I can find it. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif22:21 27-Mar-20
Have asked Llwy for detailed instructions. The best name for your article, given your description, seems to be Paranoid Android; I recommend links to it from Radiohead, Paranoid, and Android. 22:33 27-Mar-20 Here is an odd one: I can't even find the VFD ballot to delete it. PS - No offense taken! Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif22:38 27-Mar-20
OK, the vote was 5-0 to delete your article, including my vote, at Uncyclopedia:Votes_for_deletion/Archive-2016-03#Radiohead. If we succeed in restoring it, please take the criticism into account. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif22:42 27-Mar-20
Article restored at Paranoid Android. I can see why I voted against it. Despite "article in the style of the thing it's about," it doesn't look like an Uncyclopedia article, it does look like junk, and a reader's reaction of "Uh huh, that's what they're like" does not mean the article is funny. But have fun. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif00:05 28-Mar-20
Meh. Re-delete it then, please. I'm not attached enough to it to either fix it or defend the comic angle, and it makes no sense if the title is Paranoid Android. There is no need to scold me further.
Sorry to have wasted everybody's time.YouFang01 (talk) 02:26, 28 March 2020 (UTC)

King Harold[edit]

I'm confused in the last section, and not just by Harold v. Harald. Tostig was Harold's brother...but deserted Harald? though fighting at his side later in the paragraph? Is there a Danish Sweyn apart from Sweyn the Sex Offender? Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif21:52 31-Mar-20

Harold is the usual English spelling, Harald the Norwegian version. And there were two different Sweyns too. Confusing? Unlike with the Chinese and Japanese rulers who always had their own particular name(s) and were never a II or III etc. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 00:44, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

Then I'll have a little fun with that. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif01:23 2-Apr-20

And another thing. I went to Wikipedia to try to answer these questions for myself, and the page is at WP:Harold Godwinson. Went to rename our page for consistency, and it seems we already have a Harold Godwinson and the last editor, about a year ago. It's childish by comparison, but see if there's anything there you want to merge into your article and then we'll give it a good VFD-ing, if anyone still cares to vote! Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif23:13 31-Mar-20

I realised there was another Harold article when linking...and forgot I had edited that version. So, perhaps a merger is in order. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 00:41, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

I don't know. I like where the US section is right now; Simsie has contributed fun new ideas, but also a ton of diary entries from the standpoint of a tax consultant that I pared back, and we'll see if she's OK with that. The problem is that your text on the UK reaction now seems sparse by comparison, and there's an implicit invitation to Uncyclopedians elsewhere in the world to contribute their experiences as well; and if they do, it could be chaos, as we saw in the country-by-country entries at Turban. Also, the story is not yet over; you don't just print up $2,200,000 million (more in Round Four) without sowing the seeds of a sequel. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif02:48 21-Apr-20

Also, even as a liberal, I cannot think of a way to make that funny. I think it is probably past time for the 25th Amendment. I don't like the idea of Pence in the White House either, but at least Pence won't make a DEADLY suggestion on camera to people who have been brainwashed to hang on his every word. Pence is much more likely to set up an evangelical theocracy. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 06:16, 25 April 2020 (UTC)

The original mistake was mine as regards spelling. Don't see any point in re-uploading the photo. Since it was Trump who talked about ingesting bleach, I think that is grimly funny:). Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 21:42, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

Anon on the sitenotice talk page recommends we cease to call for "thumb", which I did, as there are never any photo captions. He also complained about the two photos being of different sizes which, if you care, you would fix by tweaking the "px" number each time.

Separately, "The king of laughter" has resigned, see his talk page, first creating a bunch of sockpuppet accounts including "Gepid", which I have permabanned. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif00:11 28-Apr-20

Lawsuits and Edit Wars[edit]

Spike thinks it advances the cause of humor to make the "exaggeration" that COVID-19 was "just a pesky chest cold" in the 4th phase listed in the Coronavirus article. Since then, it seems we have been reverting each other. Now, Fox News was just sued (Google "Fox News lawsuit 2020") earlier this month for spreading misinformation dangerous to the public, and has now moved to dismiss the lawsuit. We have a much smaller audience than they do, but much less in the way of legal and financial resources if we are sued. I think this is a dangerous exaggeration in that it seems to mirror what certain news organizations and websites have been repeating and emphasizing lately, especially including those who are pushing to reopen the economy. Poe's law, in other words. And if it sounds like we are serious in any way about this...we may be opening ourselves to serious trouble. Thus I have deliberately been inserting self-contradictory statements into the article, while Spike has been removing those statements. Self-contradiction is also an element of irony. Quote from The Extremists section on our article on Choice of words: "It helps to sprinkle through your article some ridicule of both sides of a dispute." Ridicule of the left wing liberals is already in the article. I don't see any ridicule of the right wing conservatives. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 03:21, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

That it is "dangerous to the public" to make any assertion that Coronavirus is not the plague is the basis of this Washington state "ethics" advocacy group's lawsuit against Fox News. That we too could be sued for including this in a comedy article is crap. Simsie has not been "inserting self-contradictory statements" but bickering footnotes to tell her story. The article does indeed ridicule both sides. "This virus is a pussy" is an assumption of the article, but the comedy strategy is exactly that Trump's reaction has been a comedy of errors. Simsie, please find a website to blog on where you are not expected to be funny from time to time; leftism has made you strident and humorless. And your husband's salary has still not been reduced to $1 as you were sure would happen three years ago. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif11:22 30-Apr-20
The virus is real. So am I. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 23:15, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
Yes, and the outcry to reopen the country, claiming that the virus was never serious is real too. And it will probably get people killed, which is not funny at all. Spike, please explain how echoing that it was "just a pesky chest cold" doesn't sound just like the people protesting to reopen everything. Also, if "leftism" is "humorless", this is why I put the most left-leaning stuff on the OTHER site where it does not immediately get reverted or deleted. If "bickering footnotes" are unfunny, maybe you should update HTBFANJS to specifically instruct people not to use them at all, anywhere. I don't see how they are any different from linking to other articles on our site indicating a contradictory meaning. Finally, if your strategy is truly to emphasize Trump's "comedy of errors", his "injection" comment seems essential, especially since it was said with a straight face, seconds after he mentioned disinfectant, light and heat. since that has been one of his biggest errors. And yes, he actually said the word "injection". -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 23:11, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
In dark times, grim laughter is all we may have in the end. And I am a 'leftist'. :) Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 00:08, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
Speaking as a rather extreme left-winger, I none the less get pretty tired of the notion that "Any venue is the right venue to push MY agenda" which I see far too often. And sanctimonious virtue signalling doesn't really belong here. Who cares whether an article mocks left and right wing points of view equally? To quote Abigail, "Is that what we're here for?" Snarglefoop (talk) 02:00, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
I wouldn't have cared as much about that if "Poes Law" hadn't been used so often to shoot things down. If you are mocking an extremist by exaggerating their point of view, according to the Uncyclopedia:Choice of Words, you will generally fail so it should be avoided by basically everyone. And I think this part about "pesky chest cold" is basically just imitating extremists to exaggerate their viewpoint (which is exactly what COW says not to do). To me, this is really more about applying fair standards to every editor here. If we are going to treat these as rules, they should apply to everyone. I actually took the part about mocking both sides of a point of view equally straight from Choice of Words. If we are not going to apply that standard to everyone perhaps it should never be treated as policy again, and Choice of Words should be used as a guideline, not a rule book. That, or the whole section on "Extremists" should be removed from Choice of Words. Otherwise, if standards are applied unevenly, it is like saying, "I am funny and everyone else is not," or "I am the only one here who is qualified to judge what is funny." -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 02:22, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

Simsie, HTBFANJS does not need a section "Bickering footnotes". The simple rule, if you need a rule, is the rule against drama. If you disagree with an author's comedy strategy, don't pursue a different/opposite strategy by edits or in footnotes, even if you use irony "to be funny." Choice of Words does not need revision, either, nor a more modern set of examples (Donald Trump). (CoW is "a guideline, not a rule book"; it's where the less mandatory stuff from HTBFANJS went.) If you disagree with an author's comedy strategy, do not claim it violates the rules on comedy, or that we seem to have abandoned the rules, and edit the rules. Do not use the rules as a weapon, even if you find an article that doesn't take a big enough bite out of Trump. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif18:48 2-May-20

Ok, fair enough. I had a feeling you would probably delete this empty section - I left it empty so you could fill it in, and apparently you prefer not to. The whole subject of Politics in general right now probably qualifies as "Drama", since things have become SO polarized. Even the slightest criticism of Trump is taboo in certain circles. Perhaps a completely separate article on "Footnotes" and how to properly use them would be in order. Also, a page on "Advocacy" explaining what constitutes Advocacy exactly, and how to avoid it is also probably in order. But anyway, since we have opposite opinions on these topics, especially politics, perhaps we should change the subject. What is your opinion on Pizza? I don't know anyone who doesn't like pizza. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 19:32, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
Speaking of advocacy, I added a short blurb about Not Political Satire to UN:NOT. It describes how advocacy is defined as I see it, and why it should not be used. I apologize if I stirred up Drama, but I honestly found the part I argued against not funny, just like you apparently found the part I added as not funny. If we start calling each other humorless, now that is Drama. I like my drama movies with popcorn. Let's talk about popcorn. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 20:30, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

And I post-edited it. The new rule would prohibit any articles on politics that might stir up drama, giving the micro-aggressee the power to ban an article. There is no reason to create such a rule and reject an entire category of article except to provide another weapon in an edit war. I restated it to say that any bias must run a distant second to amusing even the person who disagrees with you, and pointed to CoW, which discusses it in more detail. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif23:02 2-May-20

Mmmm, popcorn.
Rejecting articles for a point of view you may disagree with (or worse) is always a tricky thing. Since we're not wikipedia, our criteria is simply is an article funny which can embrace anything from extra dry humour/humor to a martini on the rocks. Serious points can be made here too, sarcasm therefore is fine too. About the only things we have removed off this site have been articles that have been straight forward abuse without any comical intent, racist and on subjects of extra limited appeal (i.e. stuff about mates, obscure schools etc). No doubt some may view coronavirus is off limits, in the same way 9/11 stuff is still. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 11:36, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
Except, Romartus, I didn't reject the WHOLE article. I rejected just one or two sentences, and made an effort to temper the ones I found unfunny. Apparently that was "point of view", "destroying someone else's comedic strategy", or "putting bias above humor" because the right person found my changes unfunny. Nevermind that I found their "sarcasm and exaggeration" in those two sentences completely unfunny, and added a couple sentences of my own that I thought made it more funny, and when those were rejected, I tried some footnotes that deliberately contradicted some of what I put in there that appeared to go along with the rest (if you did not read the footnotes). And even the footnotes did not completely contradict it (ref) Absolutely nothing happened in 1918.(/ref) This appeared to me to be an exaggeration in the same vein. But because the right person found it unfunny, it didn't matter what I thought was unfunny.
And by crossing the wrong person...the most popular person on the site... I probably won't last here much longer, because I will probably be kicked out. Like I said, level playing field. For now, I'm gonna wander off to YouTube and play my Epic music playlist. Which by the way, I enjoy because it echoes the way most of my life has gone. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 18:34, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

  • Thanks for correcting the date on my talk page.
  • We have had a flurry of activity on UnNews from new users today, including one exact copypaste from The Onion and one anti-Biden UnNews. It's not unfunny but it's the Jimlemon approach of putting words in an adversary's mouth that he wouldn't really say to reflect how you feel about him; I didn't feature it. It doesn't seem like legitimate Uncyclopedians but an ED or Reddit campaign of: let's all go here and stir things up.

I think that one is icky! But I saw you at The Reformation and did a copy-edit with a tiny bit of new stuff. Three things may be British but that may be all right and I didn't change them. Intro: "He is credited to", I would have written "with". "Whip round" I don't know either; here we have "barn-raisings." And when I started working in Reading and the guys said the "DIY" was the only shop open on weekends, I had no idea what they were talking about. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif00:46 3-May-20
The Flagellation story will need some trimming/editing. I was essentially filling in a blank on the template. Not heard of a 'whip round' (i.e. to collect money for someone's birthday or raise funds for a charity)? Ha...DIY. Well yesterday I bought a bicycle on-line and had to stick all together. I guess that counts as DIY. At least the roads are still relatively quiet. Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 08:53, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
I read an article that a city in India has its first views of the Himalayas in 30 years. Pleasant things happen when everyone curtails his life, only that's not what we're here for. Anyway, the point is that Yanks won't understand DIY; consider substituting "do-it-yourself". Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif11:21 3-May-20

Ooh, I remember the big marketing push regarding introduction of self-driving vehicles. (Self driving vehicles: What could go wrong?) Then they couldn't avoid crashes in construction zones. Not to even mention self-starting vehicles when you hit a button on your vehicle remote. This could be interesting. Especially since I supposedly am better at redirecting comedic strategies. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 23:29, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
Ok, I have done what I can on this one. Yeah, I did add some nonsense in, like tanks decked out to look like Firetrucks or Transformers. Besides, it should be pretty obvious nobody is going to paint a tank bright red or give it fire engine sirens. (If that doesn't work, maybe cotton candy pink and blue with ice cream truck music might work, since supposedly it is being driven by "a total noob".) The part about microphones in cars, and how they might be used - not as sure about that one. It just might come too close to the truth, except for the part about making radar guns obsolete. The USSR sentence - removed that one, because I don't know how many people are old enough to even remember the old Soviet Union and how it worked, not to even mention all the fighting when various states tried to separate from it. The old clapper jingle can at least still be found on Youtube. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 02:29, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

UnNews:Jake Tapper interviews Covid-19[edit]

I like the concept, combination of anthromorphism and telling the real story of what a virus is. But why Jake Tapper? (To half of us in America, he is a joke in his own right.) Here Jake is a placeholder that instantly makes the article not look like news. No one does a "news" article about a celebrity interviewing a newsman. How about: Covid comes out of the shadows, arranges a press conference, and tells his story? Then you could cover it like news, with quotes. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif15:55 10-May-20

I wanted to use a CNN anchor rather than anyone from Fox etc. as CNN likes to come across as 'neutral'. I know it doesn't look like news but wanted to use a transcript approach.
