What did you just do? Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif23:52 4-Mar-17

I marked Abbey Road for featuring as of March 5th, 0:00 UTC. (In about 10-12 minutes.)-- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 23:54, March 4, 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, but you put it at API. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif23:56 4-Mar-17

Drat, that means the script that is supposed to mark the bottom of VFH/Abbey Road with that information misfired. Maybe because I put a subject header?-- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 23:57, March 4, 2017 (UTC)
Also, what happened to my talk page? Nevermind, I figured it out. Somehow I thought I created a new one, but guess that wasn't here. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 23:59, March 4, 2017 (UTC)

Dunno, this work was before my time and I can't even tell what script that was. The ballot looks in order and our usual culprit for mangling ballots when he votes, didn't vote at all. Looks like you fixed it now. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif00:09 5-Mar-17

I hope I fixed it now, but I'm not sure. Probably the part that says click to feature shouldn't be there. I copied and pasted the information the script put at API to the place where the script USED to properly put it. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 00:12, March 5, 2017 (UTC)

Welcome back! Expert3222 is back from intensive schoolwork and has been pretty regular about poopsmithing VFD, so please leave that to him, though we would benefit from your votes. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif18:38 19-Mar-17

We have had a persistent ranter tonight, and Expert3222 has locked down account creation, which I told him on his talk page seemed excessive. It's getting late for me, and it's presumably 5 or 6 hours later for him, but I hope you can keep one eye on the website for a couple hours. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif04:32 20-Mar-17

Possibly. I do need to get to work in the morning, and my husband just went to bed, since he gets up at 6AM. I get up 2-3 hours after that. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 04:33, March 20, 2017 (UTC)

Well, I am going to re-enable account creation (by disabling the new Abuse Filter 21). Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif04:40 20-Mar-17

PPS--If you want to do Category:Social Networking too: Expert3222 has a bot that could save you a lot of time. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif04:50 20-Mar-17

Thanks for staying awake and slapping down our vandal's final incarnation of the night. But when you apply a canned rationale for deleting a vandal page, please also blank out the default one. This keeps him from seeing part of his rant in Recent Changes, which might reinforce his misbehavior. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif14:42 20-Mar-17

I have deleted the welcome message you gave this user and permabanned him. If the user name weren't a hint, both his edits show that he arrived solely to plant Holocaust Humor into the encyclopedia. Spıke Radiomicrophone.gif12:05 24-May-17

I did notice his contributions tended to fall into the "deliberately offensive" category. I thought perhaps as a newbie, he thought the way to achieve humor was to be as offensive as possible (ED style), and he did display some writing skill, though unfortunately a huge tendency to write bulleted lists. I tried to work with his material to see if I could make it a bit more clever and slightly less offensive, but I guess I didn't have much luck. Either way, probably better he is gone, since it is possible he might have been violating the Wikia TOS, though since we are a humor site we have some leniency. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 03:48, May 25, 2017 (UTC)

Are the Sims gluten free? Asking for a friend. Also hi. :) Miley Spears Discordian American Princess (let's talk) 23:01, May 28, 2018 (UTC)

Hi! Sims do not contain wheat, barley, or rye, only pixels, so they are indeed gluten free. I finally decided to check in on this site to see if the main feature needed updating, only to find out the method for updating the main page is now obsolete. Since I am now only going to be working 3 days a week over the summer, I might or might not have some time to work on that. However, Puppy would be more technically adept at it and probably would have better results. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 23:04, May 28, 2018 (UTC)
So Sims are safe! lol
Uncyclopedia is working more and more like the rest of Wikia. I admin some other Wikia sites, and they used to work very differently than here. I had to have two memberships, one here and one for all the other wikias, even thought I did them both with the same account name. But my brother Puppy's good at code, a lot better than me. :) Miley Spears Discordian American Princess (let's talk) 03:36, May 29, 2018 (UTC)

Also Monobook was disabled because of security and privacy problems. The European Union cares about the security and privacy of its citizens unlike some countries. Miley Spears Discordian American Princess (let's talk) 18:30, May 29, 2018 (UTC)
Yes, I know. But that still doesn't solve the problems I mentioned in the article 13 Reasons Why. The logo at the top left...I don't really mind so much that it got replaced by a picture in the header. I can actually live with the slightly annoying Fandom bar at the top. But not being able to see subcategories is a big problem, and not being able to update the main page is a bigger problem. I found the link to special pages in our community portal, which at least is a workaround on that for now. But we don't yet have a workaround for the main page, nor a workaround to indicate that featured pages were featured. Also, it is time for me to leave for work.-- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 19:22, May 29, 2018 (UTC)
I know how to fix the main page manually but not automatically. And not how to get subcategories except for maybe a template? I suck at code. Maybe Puppy will know. Also I'll keep checking other wikis and see if somebody's figured it out somewhere else. Have a good day at work! :) Miley Spears Discordian American Princess (let's talk) 19:52, May 29, 2018 (UTC)

One thing I wrote to argue in a forum but how the discussion was closed I prefer to make an explanation to a uncomprehensive sysop

"Hello? I've been following the whole case and wondering about one thing the Italian administrator said on one of the forums as well as Carlb. In a way, I agree that Wikia versions should not be left behind. But what good would it do? Since the bifurcation both sites have the same amount of articles? Are the versions exactly the same? I went into the forums of both versions and did not even get discouraged when I did not see this forum or others about the crisis because I would have known that the users of the en ... com commented on changing the whole course of the conversation. If you notice, not even the Russian version coming out of Wikia a few years ago got this done and went ahead.

Much less Wikia allows to do with other wikis of Uncyclomedia that were created from a certain time, that is, here it is not possible to modify the table of interlinks and interconnect articles of Desgalipedia, there it can be moved in this and other pages mediawiki." Rhubella beach.jpg Rhubella Avatar-02.png Rhubella Marie, the rat sockpreppie preppiedits Rhubella Avatar-01.png 03:48, May 31, 2018 (UTC)

If you represent Desgalipedia, you must decide what to do with your wiki. Regardless of where you move, the new website will need to conform to the new EU rules, and you may have better control over that elsewhere. If you want to leave behind a version that will be abandoned and vandalized, that is your community's decision. In 2013, those of us who stayed behind when the others left did so because we did not want to leave behind a vandalized site for search engines to find.

The content warning escalated Uncyclopedia Wikia's search engine results while it was in effect, for one thing. For a time, the plan was to stay with Uncyclopedia Wikia until the other Uncyclopedia surpassed it in search engine results. But in the end, the two Uncyclopedias became two very different sites, due to differences in the way admins ran things. Uncyclopedia Wikia ended up specializing in "high humor", taking pains to avoid coarse humor and bathroom humor in new articles, and ended up specializing in "low humor", and more simple jokes, and basically anything went. There were exceptions of course, but that is how things ended up.

Meanwhile, the user base from before was split, and both sites suffered as a result. There were overall less writers on either site, and less motivation to write. Here, the lack of motivation tended to stem from standards that were perhaps set too high and that were inflexible. There, the lack of motivation stemmed from the place becoming more of a social gathering place than a place to write, and lack of rewards since the established writers were almost immediately all made admins. Not just for a day, a week, or a month, but for good. And, as they found out, adminning just isn't as much fun as hanging out and sometimes writing funny stuff, except for perhaps the occasional joke ban. Even banning vandals can be fun, until it becomes a game of whack-a-mole, which eventually at some point it does.

Whatever you decide to do, if you leave Fandom, know that Fandom will not allow you to recruit new users from the old abandoned site forever, and eventually redirects to the new site will disappear in the night, so you won't even be able to tell people who stumble on the old site where you went. This happened to the former site of Illogicopedia, now Wackypedia since when the entire community moved away, they insisted that the old site be renamed, and Wikia complied. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 00:51, June 1, 2018 (UTC)

Hi, Sysop <insert name here>! I used to be honorable Uncyclopedia editor under a different name, but am now using this account as a sockpuppet so don't tell! Seriously, my time here may be limited, but I do want to help. I'm posting specifically on admin's pages because I thought about doing updates on some out-of-date pages like this. But I don't want to mess with an "officlal" page without getting some sort of permission. (Although I might re-take over I.C. just long enough to redo an article or two when nobody's looking.) Greetings to the new IP

You might know more than I, but this is from an ISP that doesn't exist. That is, there is no way it could get from wherever to here. One can hang fake IP ID on anything sent, but this is the fakest of the fake. Usually you get several fake IPs in a DoS attack, so this is rather unusual in that way. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 06:08, October 16, 2018 (UTC)

Featured articles

Hi Sims. :) I was wondering if we could come with an agreed policy on featured articles to add as one of our 'rools' here. Changing a featured article to update it (i.e. the death of the subject if a biography), grammatical corrections, punctuation and spelling of names (unless these were all deliberate as per the author(s) intent should be clear and 'pointable' for any noobs. I don't actually think we have this down in digital stone as such or if we do, I don't know where it is. Thoughts? --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 14:33, November 7, 2018 (UTC)

I think we should definitely have an agreed policy on featured articles. Those things all sound like good things to be in any such policy. For example, an article about the 44th President once his term(s) of office are over, could be changed from "is the 44th President" to "was the 44th President". FYI, I am checking my gmail account more these days than my yahoo email. The first part of the email (the part before the @) is still the same. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 18:36, November 10, 2018 (UTC)

Where is Everybody?

... has disappeared from the main VFH page. Had an image to add, and a voat, and was going to take it to the front page "Recent Articles" list. Are you just busy layering meta on top of meta here? I have advised User:Romartus of this as one of his VFH noms (properly created) is missing from the main VFH page, too. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 08:39, February 5, 2019 (UTC)

EDIT: Emily Litella says "Never mind". I'm apparently looking at a cached page or the wrong place. It's still where it's supposed to be. I needed to purge the pre-existing page. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 01:53, February 6, 2019 (UTC)

I'm writing here in case my reply (sent on Tuesday) has gone into your spam folder.

I have passed your information on to the technical team, and expect them to contact you over the next couple of weeks. -- Sannse <staff /> (help forum | blog) 18:04, March 28, 2019 (UTC)

Ok thanks Sannse! FYI My yahoo email is constantly clogged with junk from advertisers, so it is easy to miss messages there unless I know in advance what email the message is going to come from or the sender name. (I literally have over 25,000 unread emails in there since I tend to just ignore emails I consider unimportant.) I saw your reply from this week, don't know what happened to the one from the week before. My gmail account is much better because it filters promotions into a separate folder automatically, and is checked more often lately. Should I look for an email from Fandom Support? I thought those were just automated reply messages that usually mean nothing more than "we saw your message, someone else will contact you". I expected the reply email to come from somewhere else. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 19:34, March 30, 2019 (UTC)
You do get an automated "got it" reply, but then the actual reply comes from the same address. But as you answered me, I guess you found that :) -- Sannse <staff /> (help forum | blog) 16:11, April 2, 2019 (UTC)

This is because my browser automatically converts http:// pages to https:// pages, which don't load properly on this site, then I have to type the http:// back into my browser's address bar to see the pages. Lego Escher and redirect from Lego

A search for "Lego" alone gives "Lego Escher" as an autocomplete result. So this redirect is unneccessary. Uncyclopedia is incredibly full of redirects that I believe slows the generation of search results. We are not back in the days where plural forms and different capitalizations failed the site search engine. In my view, redirecting from "Lego" is closer to a rickroll than a legitimate referral. Have you read this article? If you can think of a better name, go for it, but I request you start it with "Lego".

This was on the Orphaned pages list meaning that it has to be transcluded in both directions. One way is to actually write a Lego article and link from it. That was in progress. If "Lego Escher" is all we want on the subject of "Lego", so be it. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 05:17, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

Unnecessary perhaps, but more convenient. With the redirect there, typing "lego" into the search box and hitting enter takes you right to the page. I don't see what this has to do with search results. Crawling a redirect page will just take the crawler to its target, no? No problem. ❦ Llwy-ar-lawr talkcontribs • 06:15 24 June 2019
If there is a Lego article in progress, once it is done, it can replace the redirect, with a link to Lego Escher. Unless there is a server issue, I don't see any problems in the number of redirect pages. Wikipedia uses redirect pages extensively. Redirect pages help people find stuff without messing around. There is a whole category of "Redirects with possibilities", proving that the existence of redirects (unless the redirect is protected) should not keep people from writing pages that would fit where the redirect currently exists. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 04:14, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
As I crawl through the site, I am really not liking being sent to a marginally related article, over and over. You approve of rickrolling? One time was funny but not where it's done everywhere. This redirect business has gotten truly tiresome. Okay, so don't read articles on the site, then? By that logic, there's no point creating articles if no one else is to read them. Perhaps I am being weird, but I don't feel that Uncyc is a place for writers to live in a vacuum and only write for themselves, like quite a few others seem to do.
"Redirects with possibilities" is obviously new to me. And inconveniently buried deep in the site. It only has 300 redirects that have been purposely placed there, hardly a complete picture of redirects. So, that page has the explanation that essentially says what I'm not liking is okay. But "So if you typed something, got taken somewhere else, and didn't see what you wanted, you are welcome to type what you wanted." is not true for users who don't know how to access a redirect page to edit it. I don't remember where I picked up how to do that, but I rather doubt it was onsite. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 09:56, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
But you do know how to do that. Certainly this might be a good topic for the beginner's guide, or a help page on wiki editing. Also, since during the last 2 years we have been encouraging editors to write their articles in their userspace and then ask an admin to move them, it should be an easy matter to move a page over a redirect. Or, do we need to set new policies on the way we are doing things? Indeed, on the site we moved from, it was set up that only admins and users with special rights could move pages. New users are also currently encouraged to write all their new articles in their userspace. Also, one thing that seems to be killing both wikis is that it has become writers writing for themselves. There is no reader feedback system anymore. Finally, I don't like being sent to "related pages" all the time when I was looking for something specific, but we still have a limited amount of content. There is a huge list on UN:REQ of pages that people have asked for, or are on basic topics. -- Simsilikesims(♀GUN) Talk here. 19:17, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
You have the Uncyclopedia universe in a nutshell.
It looks like now any user/established user can move an article. Good. No real userspace for IPs, though. But there seemed to be great reluctance to do even early sketching in userspace. And userspace doings are/were always publicly visible, which I thought was bad to show to readers.
I do think there should be new policies and and simpler ways of doing things but it is clear that's not going to happen in any major way. Times have changed; Uncyclopedia needs to at least keep up. --Nigel Scribbler sig2.png (talk) 21:01, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

A specious edit on your part. The previous search engine failed to find plural forms that only had "s" at the end. The current one does not. Therefore, there is no problem with using only singular forms.

Perhaps we can create a forum and move these discussions there from now on.Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ITRA (Orate) ® 19:54, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
