The Convention of Toyama is a convention on the rights of new born rabbits.

The main outcome of this convention is the fact, that every new born rabbit walking on the globe has the right to to stay with its mom during the first weeks of his live. Other rights, like the right to vaccination for the pox desease and malaria, were also formalized during this convention.

The location of the Convention of Toyama was on top of a very high mountain. For this reason, the convention is often called the Toyama Summit.

The fact that the organizers of the Convention of Toyama were all part of the board of the Global Skiing League is purely coincidential.

The Case for an own Convention[edit]

The inhabitants of Toyama got fed up by the fact that other Japanese cities were world famous because of conventions and protocols, and Toyama did not. For example, Kyoto is known for its Kyoto Protocol, laid down during the Convention of Kyoto, that is on a subject that is far less important than the rights of new born rabbits are. That is why the decicion was made to organize the Convention of Toyama. If they would have had their own convention earlier, this would not have been necessary. As one spokesman put it: If this convention would have been on the size of bananas or the limitation of air pollution on Japanese high roads, we would have dedicated the convention to that, the rabbits just happened to come along at the right time at the right place.

In 2001, a proposal was made for the Convention of Toyama to guarantee IP address space to world citizens. As most members of the city council of Toyama did not care less about this, this proposal was rejected at an early stage. Many years later, the Convention of Winterthur was organized in Switzerland, which led to the formalization of the IPv3.1416β standard.

In 2003, a proposal was made for the Convention of Toyama that would sort out environmental issues in Okinawa. Even though the city of Okinawa itself was interested in sorting these issues, the rest of Japan did not care less and the proposal was torpedoed by some Kamshatkan dissidents.

Economical Effects of the Convention of Toyama[edit]

Traditionally, the main income of the city of Toyama comes from the banking business and industry. With the Convention of Toyama the city hopes to attract more tourists. The building in which the Convention of Toyama, which is located at a height of 6000 meters, on one of the peaks of a mountain, is now a museum that welcomes over 12 million visitors per year. The Toyama Veggie Dish, a very tasty type of dish, has become world famous and is exported to all countries of the world. The booming tourist industry of Toyama has inspired other cities in the world to host similar conventions.

An example of such a convention is the Convention of Winterthur that is about IP address space.

Effects of the Convention on the City of Toyama[edit]

The years following the convention, there was a large overpopulation of rabbits in the Toyama Prefecture. Because of an outbreak of rabies among this population of rabbits, this problem was addressed in a timely manner. However, the city council had decided that foxes must be introduced into the area to keep the rabbit population managable. Because of these foxes, many small mammals that were indigenous to the area are now extinct.

Every year, the World Wide Playboy Organization with its 9 million members organizes conferences in the city of Toyama, with workshops on caring for rabbits.

Convention of Toyama Hooliganism[edit]

Every now and then, Toyama is in the news because of anti-playboy hooligans. These hooligans believe that the rabbits of Toyama represent the immorality of the 21st century. During riots, many a rabbit has been assassinated by hooligans, that shout things like Down with the Rabbit and No rabbits before marriage.
