Respect can mean several things:

  • A Funeral, as in paying ones respect.
  • Worship, as in praying, kneeling, kowtowing, or putting up posters of your favorite pop idol all over your room, wearing uniforms and performing rituals recommended by cult leaders, and talking ceaselessly about the object of your worship.
  • Communicating carefully with your Boss or another authority figure who could make your life difficult.
  • Being polite to other people to avoid being kicked out or becoming an outcast.
  • Taking the Competition seriously.
  • General admiration of ability or character.
  • Reciprocation of love and affection between lovers.
  • Fear of someone who might do something bad to you who you are unable to avoid. Also known as "walking on eggshells".
  • Sharing duties or chores in a fair way.
  • Using listening and communication skills to understand what someone really means.

This is a disambiguation page — words should always mean more than one thing, and we're working hard to ensure that each word you look up refers to at least two completely unrelated articles. If an article link referred you here, you should make it to point directly to the article where you think the confused link-maker thought it would point, or go nuts and pick one at random. Just make sure it doesn't point here.
