“English side ruined... must use French instructions...”

~ Homer Simpson on sentence fragments

Sentence fragments? Pah. More like "bad grammar". Barely any verbs in sentences. Mostly just adjectives and nouns. Complete nonsense. Sounds disjointed and incoherent. Sometimes acceptable in chatrooms, foreign languages, or with a mouthful of food. Always annoying to read though. And irritating. Hemingway-esque.

History[edit]

First found in old caves. Discoverer: Raymond Verbeater, infamous villain to all that is well and good in the English language.

Early example of sentence fragment, with early example of Grammar Nazism.

Famous examples of sentence fragments[edit]

Shakespeare's famous verbless play, Hamlet: Prince of Denmark:

Being or not being, that a question;
Whether nobler in the mind suffering
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or arms against a sea of troubles,
And end them. Death, sleep;
No more; and by a sleep stoppage
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh, heir to — a consummation
Devout wishes.
