The young Manchin spent a summer repairing cars in Mayberry, R.F.D.

Admin Llwy-ar-lawr announced that she has installed the InstantCommons extension for us. This will let you reference any photo on any Wikipedia page and have it brought over here. Unless you are a master 'Shooper, it is the caption, not the photo itself, that makes most photos funny, so Wikipedia photos can work fine.

I've rewritten Uncyclopedia:Image use policy to mention this new feature, also to give it better structure, and also edited the summary of Special:Upload to move most of the details to the policy page.

My first use of this was to suggest to Romartus that his article on Joe Manchin include a photo of dead-ringer hayseed Goober Pyle (a cameo character from the TV series Mayberry RFD). It did not and does not appear for me; it seems to function by visiting Wikipedia or WikiMedia Commons — which, unlike Uncyclopedia, does not work on the old browser on my kitchen table. In addition, I just tried to edit {{Recent}} to put Goober on the main page, and it did not work at all. Are InstantCommons pix not valid for use in templates? Spıke 🎙️13:31 21-Dec-21

They're valid. Goober's on the main page now.
It was the {{#ifexist:image|then show it|else show fallback image}} logic at fault. I patched it to no longer check for invalid images, so it isn't fooled by image hotlinks on Commons — we can accurately query only what we have locally, we can't use {{#ifexist:...}} to check if it exists on Commons. Neat! and you re-created the exact edit to {{Recent}} that I attempted, and even prettied up the policy page! Spıke 🎙️13:25 22-Dec-21
