-17239 to go

So, with the current article count at 37,239, I think it's time to start taking bets on when we'll reach the 20,000th! Extra bonus points for guessing the title of that article. Winner will recieve a great prize. The exact rules can be decided after I've won. Spang talk 06:01, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

How long has uncyclopedia been up and running? Aaadddaaammm 06:28, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Since January 5, 2005. —rc (t) 00:55, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Thing is, if we're below 20k on 10 Dec., Spang will just create a bunch of stubs to make sure he wins. If we're above, he'll delete stuff until we're back down to 20,000. Don't fall into his trap, people. —rc (t) 06:37, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Shh! They're not supposed to know that! I'm also willing to bet good money that when we're 50 or so from the target, every single red link on this page will get created. Not by me though, honest. Spang talk 03:17, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Guesses

Doesn't get counted, only mainspace articles.---Asteroid B612B612.jpg (aka Rataube) - Ñ 09:50, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Hee, hee, hee... --L
I hate to say it, but the closer we get, the more likely it is that QVFD vanity will be the 20k winner. A shame. A crying shame... -- Soul101 Icons-flag-gb.png~MAREPENT! 08:45, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. And hell, just for the sake of this topic, I woulnd't be surprised if someone montiors the article count and creates that specific title for a QVFD. Or it'd be even funnier if someone made it a parody mocking crap like that. --User:Nintendorulez 20:32, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Never: every time we get close, admins will call for an aditional fire forest week and delete 1000 or 2000 articles. If they don't, then it should be january 5th, uncyc's second aniversary.---Asteroid B612B612.jpg (aka Rataube) - Ñ 09:47, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
God willing. I'd rather have 1,000 pages that are solid gold than 20,000 stubs that aren't.--Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 11:45, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
And then there are those who just want to get rid of the whole wiki for no good reason. BAH! huffing addicts! Mr. Briggs Inc. 12:22, 19 October 2006 (UTC) Eh? By the way, the 20,000th article will probably be one of the 20,000 on my main page.
BTW, the 20,000th article should be The 20,000th article.---Asteroid B612B612.jpg (aka Rataube) - Ñ 12:54, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
We can only buttseckshope... -- Soul101 Icons-flag-gb.png~MAREPENT! 13:01, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
i'll fill ALL the red links above and below excepting mine (which none dare fill, obviously). that'll DRAMATICALLY improve the probability of my guessing right. but probability is SO dumb that it literally belongs in ED. -- mowgli 14:00, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
  • December 24, List of shopping malls in Iceland... ah, never mind, WP beat us to it already. 01:09, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
  • The 20,000th article to actually stay in Uncyc is probably going to be diePods. It will be VFDd, but similar to Fisher Price, will be overwhelmingly kept and become an injoke. This will all happen October 24, 2007. —Hinoa KUN (talk) 14:41, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
  • I think it'll be some slanderous stub written by an IP, which will later be tagged with an NRV template or QVFDed, making any number of subsequent articles the REAL 20,000th, thus shattering time and space as we know it. --Hotadmin4u69 [TALK] 06:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Game over

So, which was it? Who won?---Asteroid B612B612.jpg (aka Rataube) - Ñ 11:58, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think something's wrong with the front-page ticker. We jumped from 19,700 articles to 20,400 in a day. Either it was wrong before, or it's wrong now. Anyway, I don't see how you get 700 new articles in a day. But I stand ready to be corrected.--Procopius 12:51, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
i dunno but unnews reports it's a tirrerist attack not a ticker attack. ...full report -- mowgli 13:08, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
And here's another thing: Hindleyite has huffed a number of articles this morning/this afternoon, but the ticker has not moved at all.--Procopius 13:14, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
OMGWTFROTFLMAOZEDONG!!!11! I DID!!11 -- mowgli 13:01, 31 October 2006 (UTC) (at least i got the date right)
Fix! -- Hindleyite 13:04, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
I counted yesterday and got Douglas McFeeglebotham, this probably isn't the actual 20,000th, due either to me counting wrong, or the ticker being broken, but it might as well be. I have to agree with the top post. At 20,500 entries, it's certainly getting to be about time we start talking about when we'll hit 20,000...--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 06:11, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

have to agree. it's like only -451 to go. can happen any moment. some admin only needs to get an epileptic fit to start huffing - or perhas even that isn't necssary to trigger a deletion spree. -- mowgli 06:27, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Only about -30 to go now! Mark my words, it'll go down and get back up to 20,000 on Dec. 10th, just like I predicted! Only on uncyc could we hit the 20,000 article mark... twice. Spang talk 18:23, 18 Nov 2006

So the winners are...

  • Bohrium - me huffing this article reduced the number from 20,001 to 20,000.
  • Joe atchity - Hindleyite uffing this article reduced the number from 20,000 to 19,999.

- User:Guest/sig 18:41, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Only thing is... they can't be the winners, because they don't exist! Spang talk 18:48, 18 Nov 2006

Second round

Thanks to FFW we can play again. New guesses?

We Have A Winner

Wooden Roof Supporting Strut, created December 8, 2006. Hold your cards, please.--Procopius 14:57, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Hold the press. Wouldn't it be Crab wars? If I counted back correctly that is... --Anyone 15:18, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Indeed, I thought it was crab wars as well. --—Braydie 15:20, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Nevermind. I didn't factor in huffings and such. I think Procopius is right...what else is knew. --Anyone 15:31, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

No! Not until December 10th, like I said! Only one and a half more days to keep it down, and then I win! Spang talk 16:20, 8 Dec 2006

Surely Kralnor will be the winner? --Ceridwyn 20:26, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
