- I won't vote as my dislike of this article may stem from political differences with the author. The joke that a Democrat would be anti-abortion is not a joke but an old saw: Politics makes strange bedfellows. And deprecating the guy's motivations, his supporters, and his district are stock tactics on the Letters to the Editor page. It's hard to find it funny when they so resemble the real thing. IMHO the biggest joke in the current debate is that a proposed federal standard that all insurance pay for abortions is called the "pro-choice" position. PS--The Upper Peninsula is aptly ridiculed in Section 1.1 of Michigan. Spıke Ѧ 16:27 15-Feb-10
