I had the craziest idea. How about once a month we award the honor of admin for a day to a user? -- Kip > Talk • Works • •

Hey, great idea! The admin-for-a-day could be designated to respond to all complaints about admins! Or he could be assigned to count how many articles are about porn when the article's title subject has nothing to do with sex! Or he could be kept busy removing all references to Chuck Norris! There's a lot to keep an admin-for-a-day busy. Just don't let him touch the ban-hammer, or there is bound to be blood on the servers sooner or later. ----OEJ 19:28, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

As an admin I promise to huff....yes, huff, and huff until there is nothing left to huff then I will ban everyone, and the site will be mine!! MWAHAHAHAHA!! *Slaps self in the face, regains composure* Actually, this could be an OK idea, but a day is too long. Maybe a couple of hours? And I don't think it's the banhammer that would be the problem, personally. I think people would hit random page a few dozen times and huff everything that wasn't totally hysterical. This would piss off a bunch of n00bs, who would complain to the admin-for-a-day, who'd say "Sorry, not an admin anymore, go ask someone else". Then, all of these noobs would rush out to bother all the other real admins, causing them to stop doing their jobs at VFD, QVFD, and BP. I think the idea has some merit in the sense that it conveys good intentions and a sense of sharing the burden of responsibility / power. However, as a professional system administrator whose sense of paranoia has been honed to near perfection over the last 49 years, I also see very much potential damage looming. Once you empower the admin-for-a-day, he/she can then empower whomever they like and before you can say ... eh ... you'll have factions of admin-empowered persons battling each other for the possession of uncyclopedia. Or am I wrong ? I know that in the IRC #chan things work more or less as I fear. -- di Mario 16:05, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

You are wrong in that bureaucrats, not regular admins, are the ones to empower others.

I think I had the same idea about "Admin for a Day" some while back. I even posted on the Village Dump about it (I can't be bothered to find the page). My arse hurts. Could only imagine how painful an admin's arse hurts after all this time. I doubt a day would prove self worth anyways. Tis why I'm not an admin. I go postal sometimes like a plague.
