This isn't one of those "I'm leaving Uncyclopedia" speeches, just to get that out of your head straight off. This is something a little different.

Ever since I've come here, I've had a load of fun. I liked writing. I liked reading. I liked voting. I liked working with Cajek to get the UnSignpost going. I liked getting people together to form the UnSkype group. And recently, I damn well enjoyed organizing (or attempting to organize, at any rate) a night of writing and voting mayhem that I don't even have a proper name for yet.

I liked these things, and still do. The problem doesn't lie with Uncyclopedia. It apparently lies with me.

See, ever since I came here, I haven't been able to stop pissing people off.

Old users come in and see me on IRC and make snide comments about "who opped this dipshit?" People have me on their /ignore lists. When I'm not taking insults to my face, I'm hearing rumors of complaints about me elsewhere.

I don't exactly know why everyone and their mum seems to be angry with me, and I suspect it's a different reason for everyone. But it's getting to the point where I can't ignore it any longer.

So I'm taking a break, in the interest of not pissing yet more users off. It has really never been my intent to do so. I seem to be mass-producing enemies around here - or at least people who find me irritating enough to block me from their chat clients, facebook, and elsewhere. I'd very much like it to stop, and walking away seems to be the only way.

When I come back, and I'm sure I will - this site has been a wonderful diversion since I stumbled upon it several summers ago - I can't say if it'll be under this username, or a different one. I will be reading this forum, though. I'm more than willing to take constructive criticism about how to improve my behavior so people won't find me so outright annoying.

You just pulled off one of the best events in Uncy this year. I've not heard one negative word about you (although I don't do the Skype gang-bang, or Facebook, or even IRC, in fact maybe everyone hates you off-site and hasn't told us UnSite dwellers). Hyperbole left for various reasons, and he's moving into the asshole status the longer he stays away and doesn't drop in to say hi (he made his point, and then left, which is cool, but then he kept lefting, which isn't). From personal experience

Breaks work wonders when it comes to being less of an asshole. Or you can just attempt to repeatedly permaban all the people who got your goat. It's like screaming into a pillow!

Or, for real, you can leave short messages on their talk page after they've wronged you: the personal intervention element usually works the best unless you're dealing with an undying troll or an exceptionally stubborn imbecile, in which case you can just ban them for real for being a bigger dick than you. 9 times out of 10 this method works. Whatever you do, though, don't make a video of yourself.

If all else fails, a break usually works best. After all, Uncyclopedia sorta sucks. There's plenty better things you can do with your time.

Dr Skullthumper, it is most probably not you. You go by "free" choice, others are permabanned for protesting what goes on here. The general atmosphere on Uncyclopedia has changed a lot over the years and everybody is treated with the same contempt nowadays. Sarcasm and insults have taken the place of real humor and the social "behaviour" here and especially on IRC #uncyclopedia is pitiful. People are being insulted and when they react and get angry they are banned. Serious discussions here are quickly filled with so called funny but cynical and sarcastic filth and nobody has any respect for anything here anymore. When people protest thij are termed assholes and permabanned for things that were initiated by the people that banned them.

For a lot of people, the good times on Uncyclopedia are over. It is now a question of who has power and the struggle between the wannabees, who are probably the ones who have been talking behind your back. Be assured that on other *pedia's there are a lot of people that use Uncyclopedia as a bad example of how a wonderful site can deteriorate. Maybe someone here can stand up and reconsider Uncyclopedia's social policy and put a stop to the low-grade tendency. Dudes, this guy (80.127.etc) doesn't hate Uncyclopedia, he's just sad about the behaviour of many of you. Be respectful guys... don't make fun of people when they try to explain something. You should accept criticism, not avoid it by banning people and screwing up their userpages (just to keep the site funny - ironicly...). It's very weak of you to avoid important messages of other fellows. It's sad that Uncyclopedia doesn't want to corporate with other Uncyclomedia projects. The "GO AWAY, YOU PENIS"-attitude is far from any kind of friendliness and it stops people to communicate with this site. A few words, yall

Is uncyclopedia being ruined? This is an essential question that is brought up here. Are we suffering from groupthink like the utterly sane folks at conservapedia? Are we suffering from "poop poop fart ass" syndrome like the refined folks at "E.D."? Are we suffering from "Troll the shit out of each other" syndrome like the rest of the internet? To answer this question honestly, I say...possibly. I have always found it funny how conservapedia has labeled us devil worshipers and ED has labeled us "A bunch of Christ worshipping fags" or something.

To be honest, all that stuff is the lowest common denominator. It is much easier to do poop humor than it is to do non-poop humor, or to do poop humor in a clever way. Just ask Bob Saget. BUT uncyclopedia is about the creative process. Have you ever created something, be it a drawing or a sculpture, only to have it go horribly wrong? Did you learn from it? To me, "low humor" and to some extent it's blood brother cousin "ur dumb LOL" humor, is just the ying for the yang. You could sensor yourself sure from all of that stuff, but to do so is to deny the creative process. Sometimes the best works of art, or humor, or anything else come from the same people who do the worst stuff. Is it possible that we've gone downhill over the years, slowly degrading into E.D. assyness? Well, consider in 2005 both Niggers and Poop Cuisine were featured. Yes folks, there was "lowbrow" even in 2005.

Of course, it's easy to say that the newbies are ruining the Golden Days of Uncyclopedia, that everything that was is slowly being ruined and shit on, but everybody who looks to the past feels that way. I guarantee you that when this generation of uncyclopedians move on with their lives, there will be those that look back at the 2015ers and say they're ruining everything too.

Here's the real question: Should we care? No. Lowbrow has always existed, and while I agree that people need to stay civil to each other, I don't expect it, because I know human nature. By nature, we argue, fight, and hate each other. We have to work at it not to do that, so it is nice when we get along, but I don't expect it. Likewise, there will be lowbrow humor at times and highbrow humor at times, the site will change, whether for the better or worst remains to be seen. Really, it's a question of the individual. You can whine and complain about what the site is doing, but as long as there are people doing lowbrow, you'll see lowbrow, and while people are doing highbrow, there will be highbrow. Highbrow is the greater humor, no doubt about it. But if we see a greater quantity of lowbrow, it only means that the highbrow will stand out more.

Summary: Don't worry about it. It is what it will be. A bird in the hand is not yours. If it flies away, and you try to grab it, you only suffocate it. Just keep holding out your hand. I don't think anyone thinks 2005 was the "Golden Days" of Uncyclopedia. But I will say that from mid-2007 to late 2008, this place was fucking happenin'. Stuff was getting featured at scores like +17 and +18. Typical VFH noms looked kinda like this. There was hardly ever any drama, and there were a bunch of really funny, left-field, weird, cool articles. VFH was so competitive that the feature was almost always fucking hilarious.

Its probaly my fault

The reason he gave may be a cover up. He's probaly taking a break to get away from me. Reason? Well, I did create too many forums in Village Dump, as well as acting like a damn fool and asked me if I was drunk (which I wasnt) and decided to take some time to get away from that asshole which is me.
