Well exactly, if he isn't going to actually attempt help, only destroy, when someone is actively seeking it, then there is little right to complain about the article's quality, as the author was clearly looking to improve.   • But seriously, I was actually reviewing it when Colin noticed this nomination... please, check articles' histories and what links to them before putting them up for deletion. Sense, rules, etc. This can be a stepping stone that the writer can work from with future articles, or even become a rather messed-up gem if he really plays it right. Definitely nowhere close yet, but... eh.

  7. Unfunny, poorly written and self-contradictory, this article tries to excuse itself within its own body and can't even do that right. I'm not sure what this has worth saving, but then again, it contradicts itself so much that it was probably something it wound up denying later.

However, though the page is three years old, the attempt to tug it in a new direction is in its first day, and I'm going to wait for the author, even if he doesn't know the VFD rules. I have explained this to the author and invited him to come here and explain himself.     Any user has the power to do both of these things, but a better way, to avoid short-circuiting the VFD debate, is for us just to hold our fire for a day or two and see where he takes the page. Country articles from "the old country" always attract editors who want to boost foreign acceptance of their country, retaliate against humor that they perceive as an attack, prosecute domestic politics in an international forum, or just vandalize.     Okay, assume that we jumped back a month and looked at this, and decided then it's only been around for a fortnight - let's give the creators a chance to improve it. Since that time we've twiddled our thumbs and waited for the improvement, and nothing has come of it. Then we've looked at it again and said Chance was given - let's remove it unless it's funny or someone is willing to take it over. If you are volunteering I'm more that happy for it to be put in userspace, but unless it took you away in your roflcopter piloted by lolcats then as far as I'm concerned it has had chances, it has fallen well short of QA, and unless a user wants it, kill it. After all, even if it is deleted there is always the possibility that a friendly admin has hack it back into user space later.
